1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 (6 ounce) package (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Beat butter for 30 seconds; add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add flour to beaten mixture, beating constantly. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Press evenly in an ungreased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350F. oven for 15 to 18 minutes. Cut into bars while warm.
