1 (2-1/2 to 3 lb.) fryer, skin removed
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup catsup or chili sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1-1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons chopped onion (optional)

Preheat oven to 350F. Combine all ingredients except chicken in saucepan over medium heat. When boiling, turn heat to low and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Place chicken pieces in large baking dish. Pour half of the barbecue sauce over it and bake uncovered for about 45 to 60 minutes. Baste with remaining sauce every 15 minutes during baking.
