1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup margarine or butter, melted
1 egg, separated

Heat the waffle iron. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Stir in milk, margarine and egg yolk until blended.
Beat egg white in a small bowl on high speed until stiff peaks form; fold flour mixture into egg white.
Pour about 2/3 cup of the batter onto center of the hot waffle iron. Bake until steaming stops. Remove waffle carefully. Repeat with remaining batter. Make three 8-inch waffles.
