1-1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
10 (3/4" thick) slices french bread
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
2-1/2 cups milk or half & half
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup melted butter

Combine first three ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes or until mixture is bubbly. Pour syrup mixture evenly into a lightly greased 9" x 13" baking dish. Arrange bread slices over syrup.
Combine eggs, milk, vanilla and salt; gradually pour over bread slices. Cover and chill at least 8 hours.
