Melt the butter or margarine in a large pan. Add brown sugar and mix well. Cool slightly. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture to mixture in pan. Mix well. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Pour into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350F. for 25 to 30 minutes. When almost cool, cut into squares.
